Coronavirus Information and Resources

Message to the membership from the Supreme Knight
regarding the impact of the COVID-19 virus crisis on the order.

Friday, March 13, 2020

Dear Claver Family,

We are carefully monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and its impact on the Order.  Health professionals indicate that the virus is spread by personal contact.  As such, containment efforts stress social distancing by restricting travel, meetings, and other gatherings.  Accordingly, the leadership of our Noble Order strongly recommends the following actions to protect you and your families:
  • Cancel all face-to face meetings, including monthly unit meetings and any business meetings of the Order, until further notice.
  • Cancel all large-scale public events, where people would gather, until further notice.
  • Cancel all travel for KPC business until further notice.
  • Cancellation of District and State conferences is under consideration on a case-by-case basis in consultation with conference leadership.  You will be notified in advance as those decisions are being made.
Note: To date, the Texas State Junior Conference and Western States District Conference have been canceled with others potential conference cancellations under negotiation.
Here are some ways to continue unit operations without face to face contact:
  • Conduct meetings by conference call, Zoom, Google Groups or other methods.
  • Use a service such as “Go to Meeting” for large meetings like monthly unit meetings.
  • Use email for member communications.
  • Set up a calling tree or calling post to stay in contact with your members.
Additional information on this health crisis is available on the websites of the CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) and WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO)

As you may be aware, the elderly and sick are highly vulnerable to this disease.  Now, more than ever, is the time for us to embody the work of our patron, St. Peter Claver.  Always remember that we are united as families in Christ.  Keep the faith and take care of one another.

“Loving God, I pray that you will comfort me in my suffering, lend skill to the hands of my healers, and bless the means used for my cure. Give me such confidence in the power of your grace, that even when I am afraid, I may put my whole trust in you; through our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Fraternally,
Your Brother in Christ
