KNIGHTS OF PETER CLAVER ELECT NEW LEADER

NEW ORLEANS - The Knights of Peter Claver has elected Dr. Christopher Pichon of Houston as their Eighteenth Supreme Knight and Chief Executive Officer at its 106th Annual Senior National Convention in Illinois during July 18-20, 2022.  Professionally, Pichon is a career educator presently serving as Executive Director for School Administration and Principal Development with the Galena Park, Texas Independent School District.  He is also the Founder / CEO of Christopher Pichon II Foundation, named in honor of his late son.  Pichon previously served the Knights of Peter Claver in various leadership capacities most recently serving as Director General of the Junior Knights which is the organization’s youth division.  Pichon also serves on other boards and committees and is regarded in the Houston area for his involvement with enriching young people.  He follows James K. Ellis who reached the end of his statutory tenure.
 
About the Knights of Peter Claver -
The Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. is the nation’s only African-American Catholic fraternal order and the largest historically black Catholic organization in the world. The Order was founded on November 7, 1909 in Mobile, Alabama for Catholic men of color and now comprises the Catholic Church at large including clerics and prelates as well as women and youth. The Order is named after St. Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest from Spain who ministered to African slaves in Cartagena, Colombia during the 1600s. The Knights of Peter Claver operates over 400 units in 72 Catholic Dioceses in the United States and South America. The organization is headquartered in New Orleans and is a member of the worldwide International Alliance of Catholic Knights.
